More than a specialized 3D design program, Carrara 7 has become a suite of applications that enable users to edit, build, animate and render 3D models and figures. It has been enhanced from previous versions thanks to the collaboration of regular users.
You can create anything from scratch or import previous creations from programs like Poser or DAZ Studio, and modify them with tools like displacement brush, edge extrusion, and others. You can easily create natural ambients with vegetation. Available effects include everything from clouds and sunlight to forests and ocean filling. You will be able to paint hair on any object, select the hair growth regions and determine the density and length. Then, you can animate hair with the dynamic hair modeling tool and give it a realistic look.
Other changes in version 7 include multiple selections, that allow to change the properties of several objects at the same time. To change properties of light, camera, and others simultaneously, for example.
You have to register your copy to try it out. Unfortunately, many tools like multipass and network rendering, and wizards are unavailable until purchased, but still you'll get a good taste of the program. |
